staffmagnet's client, a DC based startup company, is developing a web platform seeking to revolutionize philanthropy by empowering everyday donors to change the world, in partnership with non-profits and social entrepreneurs. The team is seeking a team player who is passionate about creating outstanding web applications towards the end of building the #1 destination site for online giving.

The Senior Web Application Engineer is responsible for delivery of world-class technical solutions. Working collaboratively with your engineering, design and business team members, you will be expected to build applications and infrastructure intelligently and effectively.

Some day to day responsibilities:
* Visualize ideal information layout and application behavior to accomplish the business goals of a feature. Distill requirements
and priorities into clear and simple functionality.
* Work with a designer to implement browser UI and behaviors, using Ajax techniques where appropriate.
* Write elegant and performance-aware code on the server and database.
* Collaborate with a team of specialists in algorithms, visual design, marketing and business management.
* Continuously improve personal and group processes for development, testing, measurement, and deployment of a highly scalable site.

Technical skills should include many (or all) of the following:
* Ruby, JavaScript, CSS, Rails
* Linux and/or Solaris admin and scripting skills
* MySQL
* Familiarity with Web and database scalability techniques
* Web 2.0, ideally including how to integrate with Facebook, Twitter
and Linked-In
* Pluses:
> Other programming languages, databases, platforms
> Experience in other areas of software development
