staffmagnet's client has asked us to help them find a UNIX Systems Administrator. They are a profitable startup in downtown Washington, DC is in the business of practically applying information retrieval and machine learning technologies to the field of archiving and eDiscovery.


The Hosting Engineer will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of our web and database servers, firewalls, and networking
hardware. In additional, youʼll work with partners to design and install pre-bundled and pre-configured “appliances”, composted of high-performance
servers, Sun technologies (Solaris, ZFS, OpenStorage, CMT), and our software components for deployment at customer sites.

Specific Responsibilities:
Achieve continuous uptime and high performance for the engagements we host Capacity planning, and provisioning of 24 hour by 365 day network support
Installation of web, application, database, and related servers and networking equipment
Maintenance and monitoring of server equipment, system hardening, OS maintenance
Organize issues and priorities into a self-guided work plan
Occasional after hours emergency resolution

If you answered an emphatic "YES" to all 3 points mentioned above, read on to some of the more specific skills/traits we're looking for:
2-3+ years hosting experience in Solaris/linux environments
Experience and proficiency with Solaris 10
Experience administering Apache web servers and Java application servers in a
production environment
Practical knowledge of IT infrastructure, network topology, and networking
standards
Perl/Shell programming
Good communication and interpersonal skills, and a desire to "roll with the
punches" in a fast-changing entrepreneurial environment
